Wow! So delicate and beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing, Ann. ❤️xo

Thank you, Liz! These modest little beauties add so much to an ordinary day. I’ll probably never be a trail runner for not wanting to miss the peace of small quiet things.

Hope it rains soon Ann

Thank you, Shital. I’ll hold onto that hope.

Thanks for this gorgeous little uplift, Ann 💚

I’m so glad it had some goodness for you, Caroline. Holding onto small humble things as much as possible over here.💛

Beautiful, Ann! Thank you for sharing the video - you can really see where they get their name from!

We are also due for some rain today finally after almost a week of unusually hot weather for June. I hope you get some rain too! 🌦️🩵

Thank you, Sara! The slo-motion function shows me little wonders every time. I never realized how bees, for example, look like they're almost swimming through the air around a flower. Very cute how they kick their little legs :-) 🐝

I hope you get some nice soaking rain soon. xoxo

Beautiful. I recently wrote a poem that features an appearance by this dazzling damselfly as well.

Aren't they the lovliest? I once had a Jewelwing come sit on my hand as I was filming its friend. Like hey! What about me? How beautiful when one flies through a poem you're writing. I'm so in love with NC--it absolutely brims with beauty and wonder all year long.

That video is really something else! How does that particular kind of movement allow for flight?! It seems impossible somehow.

Thank you for sharing light even in the face of drought, Ann. What magic..i use the macro lens all the time but never thought to try slow motion. And your poem is beautiful, what lessons the jewelwing shares with us! "Just open your eyes and be lifted"

So reverent and *friendly*, your gravity-defying attention! Thank you for taking us with you on another walk, Ann.

“The force of gravity in reverse.” Such a wonderfully descriptive expression, Ann. You have, as always, captured in words (and image) the beauty around you. I hope the rains come soon.

Ann Collins's avatar

Thank you, Glyn. You’re so kind to tell me. I know you have a sensitive heart for all the little wonders. We had a soaking rain here last night, brought to us by a rumbling thunderstorm that made its music the sky for hours. A beautiful thing.

I’m so happy to hear that you had rain! I know how wonderful that feels, especially during a drought. And the music of the rumbling thunder too! We had a similar storm last week and I couldn’t help but go outside and record it. ⛈️

Attention like the force of gravity in reverse is a great way to put it
