I'm utterly delighted to discover your Substack Ann, (via Jenna @witchcraftandmetaphysics) It may seem strange to be commenting on a much earlier post, your April is my October here in Aotearoa, New Zealand. I love this idea of a microseasonal sketch book and hearing the journey on how you started it. Truly inspiring ! Thank you!
You’re welcome, Bron. I find it a gentle and forgiving canvas full of light and peace and possibility. Right now, I’m working on a large painting as a two page spread in my book, and I feel much more free to experiment than I would with a new, blank commercial sketchbook.
I fully understand, blank pages, new canvases can be so daunting. I often draw on a pad first (fear of commitment! 😂) then stick it in my journals, perhaps embellish the page more afterwards. I haven't as yet started with an old book, but I have collected several from secondhand shops in preparation for the idea ☺️ xx
Your journal pages are SO inspiring! Love the wheel (of life)! 😍
Thank you, Virginia!
