There is so much beauty here, thank you Ann. How can it be that we so often need the reminder to practice in our daily life, to show up fully and be active participants? Our (I guess I mean mine) memories of the commitment we make to pay attention often seems fleeting so the nudge back is appreciated.
Oh what lovely, thoughtful, heart-full reflections on work. Your patients are blessed to have you. Do you know Annie Dillard's The Writing Life? Your reflections remind me of her thoughts on schedules and the ongoing dance between life + work.
Thank you, Victoria. He has been a talismanic author whom I’ve read, respected, and loved for a long while now. Too soon taken from us—but one whose work is evergreen.
*have showcased it beautifully! Oh talismanic - what an intriguing descriptor! Have you read any of David Whyte’s poetry? He was friends with O’Donohue and I find a similar thread of wisdom in his words that you might also enjoy if you have not already 🤍
I love your canva collage, Ann. It's really beautiful. And I had to think about what the structure of work means to me. As a person who mostly lives of preoccupations and daydreams, work can sometimes make me feel trapped. Then I have to consciously relax into it, and open myself up to small beautiful moments that may happen, even in this environment. But most days, I appreciate the break from my busy mind, and I channel my mental energy into getting tasks done and crossed of my list. It's all about the balance.
Conny, I struggle with balance as well. I wrote this as a reminder to myself truly. I think the imagination can be used by so many of us who are sensitive and earnestly want to contribute something of meaning and beauty to our world while we have the chance. Your poetry does this so well. Thank you for your art.
Oh, Ann. I just loved all of this. The idea that each day, each micro-season is both structured and wild, monastic and poetic. That all went straight to my heart and deep into my soul! Thank you so much. ❤️
I was busy and distracted when this first came into my inbox. Thank you, Ann, for these beautiful, grounding words. You framed them beautifully with your Canva collage. ♥️
Roseanne, you have been such a faithful reader since the beginning. Always an encouragement to me. Thank you for your kind and steady presence here in the midst of a challenging and distracted world.
“Each microseason is a two-sided coin: one side is structured, precise, monastic—the other is intuitive, wild and poetic. I love it this way.” I couldn’t agree more. Both vital and ever-informing expressions of the whole.
Thank you for this beautiful reminder, Ann! 🌻
Thank you for the beauty of your attention, Karen! ☀️

Also, I love JD’s prayer.
It's all beautifully human isn't it, Donna? We drift and we come back home, over and over. 💛
A fresh week ahead, a beautiful reminder to savor each moment of our everyday. Thank you! I’m also a big fan of John O’Donohue’s writings.
I love the way you see the world, Stella.
The practice of love as attention and intention. Yes, amen! Thank you, Ann.
Elizabeth, your poems remind me to stay awake--they are full of loving attention. 💛

She is a force of nature—I love her humor and her intellect—everything her mind shapes on the page!
I didn’t know how much I needed your words. Thank you!
Your words bring me happiness, too, Lindsay. Sending love and thanks 💛
“It’s simply an ongoing attempt—a best effort—to make the ordinary tasks of our day an unceasing offering of love.” I love this.
Thank you for saying so, Mary! 💛
I love O’Donhue’s work and you haven’t showcased it beautifully alongside your own thoughts here. Thank you 🙏🏼

Victoria, yes! I love his work. Especially "What to Remember When Waking"💛
"To be human is to become visible
while carrying what is hidden as a gift to others."
What a generous lens on human life.

Thank you, Virginia--it's such a great tool for creative experiments.
