Your post today helped me to remember that in the 1930’s or so, my Dad’s family was devastated by the Great Depression. The family says during that time, my paternal grandfather was institutionalized and died from “melancholia.” In today’s language, it was probably failure to thrive due to major depressive disorder. Your words today lead me to focus more on this gentle soul who was heartbroken that he could not provide for his wife and children. We send all those souls our deep love and gratitude.
