Brian, I'm even farther behind you on that film--definitely one I've been meaning to watch. Maybe home is a moving target . . .maybe the longing for it is what fuels us . . .thanks so much for reading!
Right there with you, haven't seen it either, lol. I think home is something intangible, perhaps even unnamable. More of a moment than a geography. Something that vanishes in the grasping. The yearning that keeps us searching.
Everything here made my breathing deeper, slower, more nourishing. This is what we need. Creatives, in this season, will be the balm. Thanks to you both!
The poem that speaks to me the most is the one asking for permission to go home. As if a time frame for which you're allowed back in has lapsed and you're at someone's mercy to be allowed back home. Wonderfully written Ann. The colour composition in the collage by Duane is just amazing. Beautiful work you've both created!
Thanks so much for letting me know what thoughts arise for you. Once a poem is written it belongs to you as much as me. And you know how Duane's energy adds an X factor that is high-octane fuel for making . . . a Third Thing!🔥
That's it! Duane adds magic and that third thing! I agree with you. It's great when you've made a reader feel home with what you've written/created/composed.
That's the best compliment I could hope for. Making a safe & welcoming space is what I'm always hoping for--both here and in my clinical work. What an honor to hold the space between us with an open heart.
Thanks so much! I loved the concept, and that feeling of hopeful melancholy that it stirs. I tried my best to conjure it up in a visual way that would take it further.
“It’s never too late…” This sent shivers down my spine. What a beautiful collaboration. And thank you for the intro to Duane. I’m nutty about collages and can’t wait to explore more of his stunning creations.
Ann and Duane, this was a sincere pleasure. Duane, your collage brought me great pause. And Ann, the second poem lead me into a much different space than the one I began in when I started reading. Thank you
Emma, your thoughts warm me this morning. Thank you, love. I'm getting ready to head out on a silent retreat this weekend, and I'll be printing out your latest piece on the Subtle Self to take along in my reading materials. Thanks for the work you do.
Emma, Thank you! Frederick Buechner says that “art is saying Stop.” He says that “It helps us to stop by putting a frame around something and makes us see it in a way we would never have seen it under the normal circumstances of living”. I’m so glad to hear that it did this for you!
Thanks, Susanne, yeah something about the images, I know. They kept speaking to me. It's hard to say why an idea won't leave you, but I can only think it's because there's something ineffably true--an Idea the mind needs to articulate to itself. Anyway, the process can be so much fun if we listen to our intuition and let it run a little wild.
The best ideas are the ones that go on lingering with out articulating the whole of their. Always remaining unreachable. The most interesting work comes from that place, I think.
I enjoyed this collaborative piece Ann and Duane. Thank you both for sharing.
Thank you, Neil. Your presence always makes my day begin with gratitude.
Thanks Neil! I appreciate you!
Beautifully done! I just watched interstellar (10 years behind 🙂)…oh the longing to come to home, especially when you know you won’t be able to…

Thanks Brian! I'm so behind on movies I've given up completely, lol. I think you've articulated the mood and tone precisely. Thanks again!
Oh oh oh! How beautifully lovely - thank you 🙏
Thank you, dear Vanessa 💛
Much appreciated!
Ann and Duane! This stunning collaboration fills me with wonder and a bittersweet pang of longing. Thank you for sharing this with us!
Jason, your work has the exact same effect on me. Much love you, friend 💛
Thank you so much Jason! From you, I take that as very high praise! thank you again!

“when you've made a reader feel home” - that’s it exactly!

hopeful melancholy . . . what an amazing feeling . . .
absolutely! My favorite kinds of art seem to come from that place.
Another beautiful collage!
This is a beautiful collaboration.
Thanks so much, Amy! it’s a dream to write with the inspiration of another creative soul as easygoing and talented as Duane.

You always read with your whole heart. xo I love & appreciate your comments so much!
And yes--Duane has an uncanny, intuitive creative style that I think you'll really enjoy.
I’m so happy to hear you enjoyed this Kimberly! That really means so much to me! The world needs more collage enthusiasts, lol!
Beautiful! I love this duet!
"Tell me it’s not too late to be Home.
I will tell you—it’s never too late."
Melanie, thank you for saying so!

A poignant point from Buechner. Yes, your collage definitely accomplished that framing for me.
I don’t think I ask for a better compliment than that! Thank you again!
Just beautiful. Thank you to both of you.
Margaret, thank you so much. xx
Thank YOU Margaret! So glad you like it!
Oh, what a beautiful collaboration! Thank you for sharing. I loved the astronaut series!

Wow! Thank you Susanne! The astronauts are becoming my favorite ongoing theme. Hoping to continue to explore it more. Thanks again!
Beautiful -- from the intro/outro, to the poems, to the collage. Lovely collaboration!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
Thank you, Hasse, it was a joy!
